Have you ever done a word of the year before?

It’s becoming more and more popular, but essentially you choose a word for yourself for the year.

Some common word of the year words:

  • Health
  • Wellness
  • Finances
  • Family
  • Intentional

It’s kinda like setting a one word intention for the year. It becomes the overarching theme for your year.

This is my third year setting a word of the year. Each year, after I have looked back on the year, I was amazed at how big my word had played a part in that year.

Cassie’s Words:

2017 – Work. Stop complaining about how you want change, Cassie. Do the work to make it happen.

2018 – Wellth. I wanted an abundance of wellness in my life.

2019 – Community. Expand my community and help others expand their communities.

2017 I workkkkkked. I quit a job I wasn’t happy with and found a new job. I started implementing the things I wanted to improve on in my personal life. I did the work. It was a tough year, but it was a year of action. It was just what I needed.

2018 was about creating wellness habits. I didn’t realize the seriousness of this intention until about halfway through the year when I started having panic attacks. I had to take a step back in every single area of my life and go back to the basics: taking care of me, taking care of the little things that are easy to neglect when you are busy with life – but when they add up, they are a ticking time bomb.

2019 I am looking forward to expanding my community and helping others with theirs. It’s hard making friends and getting engaged in a community after you are out of high school and college! Life is busy. But connection is one of the most essential aspects to leading a fulfilled life. Community is vital for happiness. And I am alllllll about leading a happy life.

What about you? I would LOVE to hear what your word of the year is.

And bonus! If you tell me what your word is, I will create a pretty image for you of your word that you can save to your phone or your computer background… or whatever! Print it out and make it visible in your everyday life.
